ISSA-LA

Stan Stahl, PhD., is president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA) www.issala.org and the founder and president of Citadel Information Group, Inc., www.citadel-information.com an information security management firm.

Dr. Stan Stahl has been ISSA-LA President for seven years and is the architect of its Community Outreach Program designed to stimulate necessary collaboration between Los Angeles business and community leaders, technical IT professionals and the information security community.

Some of the outreach programs include the ISSA Financial Services Fraud Forum, CISO Forum, CFO Forum and Cyber Security Awareness Speakers Bureau.

Dr. Stahl leads the ISSA-LA Financial Services Security Forum working group. It is a monthly forum of treasury and security professionals in financial services together with law enforcement. The group offers opportunities to learn together, helping their organizations more effectively manage the risks — financial and otherwise — associated with cybercrime.

Dr. Stahl is a knowledgeable, articulate, high-energy speaker with the rare gift of being able to describe the complexities of information systems security in a way that makes sense to real-world non-technical business professionals. Dr. Stahl is quoted and interviewed frequently by numerous local and national media outlets. He speaks regularly to various business and professional groups including the Jonathan Club’s prestigious Breakfast Club in downtown Los Angeles. He has written two op-ed pieces on how much cybercrime is costing and affecting businesses in the LA area that were published in the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Dr. Stahl is a pioneer in the field of information security, having entered the field in 1980. He began his career securing teleconferencing at the White House, databases inside Cheyenne
Mountain and the communications network controlling our nuclear weapons arsenal. As
President of Citadel Information Group and of ISSA-LA, he brings a wealth of experience to
business, government, and the not-for-profit organizations.

Dr. Stahl earned his PhD. in mathematics from The University of Michigan and spent nearly
15 years teaching university mathematics. He has published more than a dozen papers in
advanced mathematics and computer science. He has taught courses in information security, software engineering, project management and computer programming at several universities and colleges. He serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Information Technology Program at USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering and the California Cybersecurity Task Force convened jointly by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the California Department of Technology.
