Gary Olson is a consultant in advanced media technology as an architect and strategic advisor that specializes in assisting organizations with the transition from legacy technologies, media workflows and business processes. He evangelizes the use of IP technology and develops the best and appropriate technology solutions including the adaptation of organizational structure, staffing models and workflows to implement IP and file based technology. Gary’s has substantial experience working with project sponsors and stakeholders to help them understand the changes associated with IP technology and file-based workflows for content delivery to all digital media platforms.

Gary is a recognized industry leader with practical experience in the analysis, selection, and uses of technology and as an innovator in media technologies and broadcast design.

His recently published book “Planning and Designing the IP Broadcast Facility” is a comprehensive technical guideline for making sound decisions implementing IP technology. He is a contributing writer to online services on IP technology and file based workflow. He created the course for SBE University on IP facility design.

Gary’s expertise includes broadcast, broadband, IT digital asset management, interactive telecommunication, distance learning, and digital media distribution. He has been active in many complex projects that involved the convergence of broadcast, digital media and information technology. He holds a US Patent in streaming media automation and distribution.

Gary’s advises on the best use of technology in the migration and transition from traditional media technology to digital platforms in broadcast, broadband, wireless, portable multimedia and On-Demand media and information technology.

Gary has a project portfolio of successful engagements in the planning, design and management of large scale projects in Broadcast, Broadband, IT and Satellite implementations. Hi clientele includes major broadcasters domestically and internationally, cable and satellite networks, large institutions, global financial companies and sports leagues.

He recently was involved in the modernization of all the broadcast and meeting archive systems the UN World Headquarters to an all High Definition file based architecture. He designed one of the first full file based facilities for CONCACAF. His international experience includes introducing the first non-state owned television networks in many of the central European countries.
