Aaron grew up in the industry, his father being talent for ABC-TV and KGO radio, and his mother an executive producer. After college, Edell produced several award-winning documentaries and a show for PBS. In 2007, he joined a start-up called SAMMA systems where he helped design the Emmy award-winning product line that specialized in the migration of legacy video assets to file-based media. SAMMA was acquired by Front Porch Digital in 2008 where Aaron went on to become the senior solutions architect and primary subject matter expert for all the content storage management, broadcast/media workflow, and metadata management products, building solutions for some of the largest broadcasters and media companies worldwide. After Oracle acquired Front Porch Digital in 2014, Aaron joined GrayMeta as a wearer of many hats, primarily building and evangelizing on the core product; automated metadata harvesting, storing, indexing, and centralizing.

As SVP of Screen Engine’s Digital Entertainment division, Mark Orne draws on over fifteen years of entertainment research experience to provide home entertainment, games and technology clients with strategic market research critical to the constantly changing business.

Mr. Orne comes to Screen Engine after running the consumer insights group at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for twelve years, where his understanding of the industry was considered invaluable. As Executive Director, he led all market research for Sony’s DVD, Blu-ray and digital releases. Mr. Orne also oversaw consumer trends reporting and advising on new business and technology.

In May 2013, Laurie Hutto-Hill joined IBM as the Vice President and Partner of the Media and Entertainment Sector for IBM GBS. In this executive capacity, she is responsible for leading the media and entertainment sector.

Laurie has over twenty five years of telecommunications, media and entertainment industry and Sales Leadership experience. Prior to joining IBM, Laurie was the General Manager and Sales Leader at Dell, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. From 2010 until present, she led the telecommunications, media and entertainment industry practice including managing the sales leadership, marketing, account teams, business development, financials and vertical solution product development for several of the largest customers within the industry. Before joining Dell, Laurie was the General Manager for the telecommunications, media and entertainment industry at HP/EDS. In addition to her leadership and sales responsibilities, she led front end business consulting engagements, large outsourcing projects and solution and asset development. She has a reputation for leading and growing global teams and building deep senior client relationships. Prior to that time, she held several executive positions supporting the communications industry including key delivery and operations roles.

Laurie holds an MBA from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and a BS in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She is also a member of the CTIA Advisory Board from May 2012 to present.

Dr. John Mooney, Executive Director of the Institute for Entertainment, Media, and Culture, also serves as an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Technology Management at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management as well as a Research Affiliate at the MIT Sloan Center for Information Systems Research. Dr. Mooney holds a BS in Computer Science and a Master of Management Science both from University College Dublin, Ireland, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Business Strategy from UC Irvine. His current teaching and research interests include effective management practices and executive responsibilities for business analytics and digital innovation.

From 2014-2015 Dr. Mooney served as Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Online Programs. He served as department chair for Strategy, Information Systems and Decision Sciences from 2012-2014, and as Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Executive Education from 2005-2010 when his responsibilities included leadership and oversight of the development and delivery of the Graziadio School’s portfolio of degree programs for business professionals and executives. Dr. Mooney is a member of the editorial boards of MIS Quarterly Executive, the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the eService Journal and the Journal of Global Responsibility. He was a co-founder of RealExPayments and served as a non-executive director until its acquisition in 2015. John was also the founding co-chair of the AACSB Associate Deans Affinity Group, and now leads the design and delivery of AACSB’s Seminar for New Associate Deans. He was Vice President for Chapters and Affiliated Organizations at the Association for Information Systems (AIS) from 2004-2007, and will serve as Conference Co-Chair for its 2016 International Conference on Information Systems, which will be held in Dublin, Ireland.

John is married to Dr. Angela Tripoli, a former professor of Organization Behavior who now coaches executives and business owners through life and career transitions. They are blessed with one daughter, whose passion is ballet. John volunteers his time at St. Thomas More catholic parish in Irvine, building props and managing the backstage crew for Maple Youth Ballet, and as a “Lead Trail Boss” and “Lead Land Steward” at the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. He has been honored with a number of teaching, research and service awards.

Tom Moran is the Senior Director of Media and Entertainment Marketing for Savvis Communications, a CenturyLink Company. Tom studied at the University of Minnesota and then began his career as a freelance photo journalist, fine artist and musician, based in London England.

As an arts minded technologist Moran has done pioneering work in digital media production, management and distribution, much of it while working for the Technology startup WAM!NET, which was acquired by Savvis in 2003.

For the past 15 years Tom has played a leading role in developing solutions for creating, digitizing, managing and distributing media for individual artists, arts institutions, and businesses both large and small, most notably working with many of the major music companies and film industry service providers in developing their digital supply chain strategies and capabilities.
