MESA, Variety and the Hollywood IT Society announces the return of the HITS Digital Marketing and Analytics Summit, which is being presented in cooperation with Variety magazine on Sept. 27 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

The Summit will bring marketing and information technology executives from Hollywood and other M&E industries, digital marketing technology companies, academia, researchers and service providers who are advancing the use of an escalating amount of technologies and big data in order to boost business for film, TV and home entertainment across a multiplying number of distribution platforms. Panels and presentations will feature thought leaders in sales and marketing, IT, digital workflows, asset management and market research.

Devendra Mishra, Executive Director of the Hollywood IT Society (HITS) and Conference Chair observes, “Digital marketing and analytics may be the greatest weapon Hollywood has to position itself for growth and profitability in the digital world where B2B relationships are being transformed to B2C. The CMOs, CIOs and CTOs have begun to leverage the ubiquitous channel of Internet distribution which provide a push as well as a pull capability to influence the consumer. Today the film, TV, home entertainment and digital distribution segments of the studios manage operations across multiple platforms of broadband, Internet, wireless and social media to create influence and satisfy consumer demands for entertainment anywhere on any device.”

The conference agenda will focus on digital marketing, which has evolved as the “practices of promoting products and services using database-driven, on-line distribution channels to reach consumers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner”. In today’s marketplace, technology convergence has blurred traditional media boundaries and reduced entry barriers, creating new forms of competition for M&E com¬panies. Central to all this is the realization that Big Data can transform processes, alter corporate ecosystems and facilitate innovation. Unprecedented customization, constant experimentation, and novel business models have become the new hallmarks of competition as companies capture and analyze huge volumes of data.

The emergence of digital entertainment, growth of ubiquitous internet and the decline of the physical medium have resulted in the realignment of business functions within studios and necessitated a transformational role for Information Technology as its focus shifts from technology to business. IT executives from Film, TV, Home Entertainment and Video Games will address objectives, strategies and tactics to collaborate for business optimization and revitalize the industry.
